Asim Ahmad, the FBR’s chairman, has requested a 150 percent pay raise for all FBR staff members from Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
In order to put the Fixed FBR Incentive of the FBR’s employees on par with businesses like the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency, he has also asked Finance Minister Miftah Ismail to move a summary to the PM for the enhancement of the existing Fixed FBR Incentive to 150 percent of their running basic pay instead of the FBR performance allowance (FIA).
Recently, the federal Cabinet agreed in principle to pay grades 17 to 22 government employees working in the federal Secretariat an Executive Allowance equivalent to 150 percent of their base income, following the model of the provinces. The FBR’s officials were disqualified on the basis that, according to a letter, they already received a special allowance.
Ahmad said that requests for a reconsideration of this decision have been received from a number of FBR workers who say that the FBR Performance Allowance has been locked since 2015 at a level that is now equal to around 20% of the base salary.
The unique allowances and incentives that many other firms’ workers get, by contrast, range from 100 to 150 percent of their base salary.
The demoralisation of the FBR employee as a consequence of this difference might harm their crucial attempts to collect income.
