The government has raised taxes on mobile phone imports by 240 percent.
According to a notice published by the Federal Board of Revenue, new taxes and regulatory duties on mobile phones went into force on Thursday (FBR).
These precautions have been made at a time when smartphones are in high demand owing to students around the nation taking online programs. The purpose of the increased regulatory duties, according to the tax authorities, is to stimulate local cellphone manufacture.
It’s worth noting that between July and May of the previous fiscal year, the government imported $1.9 billion worth of cellphones, a 63 percent rise.
The regulatory tariff on mobile phone imports has been raised from 32 percent to 240 percent, depending on the value of the imported mobile phone. Taxes / Regulatory Duty on Mobile Phones
