Social media photos of Pakistan’s first 2024 Toyota Prius have created a buzz among the netizens. Although, more than the photos, the price of the new Prius has left car enthusiasts dumbfounded.
According to an Instagram user, the car has been imported by a dealership in Karachi and costs close to a jaw-dropping Rs. 20 million (2 crores). For perspective, a Toyota Fortuner Sigma 4 costs just over Rs. 19 million.
The new Prius has undergone significant improvements both in terms of its appearance and performance compared to the previous model. Its design seems to have drawn inspiration from modern sports cars, featuring a sleek front, a gently sloping roofline, and large wheels.
Under the hood, the new Prius is equipped with Toyota’s inaugural 2.0-liter Plug-in Hybrid System. This innovative system combines a high-efficiency Dynamic Force Engine with lithium-ion batteries, resulting in an impressive power output of 221 horsepower (hp). Toyota claims that this setup enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.7 seconds.
In addition to its enhanced performance, the 2024 Prius comes packed with various advanced features including the Toyota SafetySense suite and other intelligent functionalities. However, despite these attractive attributes, its price ranges from Rs. 7.8 million to Rs. 10.2 million in the global market.
This substantial price increase of nearly Rs. 10 million has garnered significant attention in Pakistan, leading to widespread astonishment and curiosity.
