The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) experienced a modest uplift for the third consecutive day against the US Dollar, maintaining its opening position at 279 in the interbank market today.
Throughout today’s trading session, the PKR showcased stability against the US Dollar. The interbank exchange rate fluctuated slightly between 279 and 280, ultimately settling back at its starting point by the day’s end. Similarly, in the open market, currency rates were observed in the range of 279-280.
By the close of the day, the PKR had appreciated marginally by 0.01 percent to end at 279.48, marking a slight gain of two paisas against the dollar.
Despite today’s gain, the PKR has depreciated nearly Rs. 60 since January 2023 and over Rs. 107 since April 2022 against the US Dollar. However, it’s important to note the currency’s gradual appreciation of 2.31 percent on a fiscal year-to-date basis.
The PKR also showed positive movement against other major currencies in the interbank market today. It remained steady against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and the UAE Dirham (AED), while it gained against the British Pound (GBP), the Euro (EUR), the Canadian Dollar (CAD), and the Australian Dollar (AUD).
