To address the concerns of the business community, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to eliminate several Customs checkpoints.
According to sources, the tax department has decided to close 12 of the 47 Customs checkpoints right now. Customs officials recently informed the FBR Chairman on the subject, and it was agreed to put the decisions into effect right away by informing the Customs collectors.
According to sources, the business sector has complained that Customs employees mint money at almost every checkpoint.
According to sources, Customs authorities will inspect imported items from Iran and Afghanistan at checkpoints set up along the border, but no cars will be searched in other regions of the nation.
