The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship issues the Emirates ID, which is a required identity card for UAE citizens and residents (ICA). While the card is tangible and should be carried at all times by residents and citizens, the ICA recently unveiled a new electronic/digital version of the Emirates ID that applicants may use while waiting for their physical card. So, let’s have a look at how the e-Emirates ID application procedure works.
HOW DO I GET AN EMIRATES ID IN AN E-VERSION?
The Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has made an e-version of the Emirates ID available to individuals who are waiting for the physical card version. Here’s how it works:
The e-Emirates ID can be utilised for a variety of government services until your actual ID card is created and delivered. It also applies to telecommunications providers such as du and Etisalat.
- Download the âICA UAE Smartâ app from Play Store and App Store.
- If youâre a new user, register and setup an account with the required credentials, including your Emirates ID number, passport number, expiry date, valid email address. Once the registration for Emirates ID e-version is complete, youâll receive an email to confirm and verify your account.
- You can also use âUAE Passâ login details in the registration process for the e-Emirates ID.
- Click into the Emirates ID section to find the QR code which will allow you to create the electronic Emirates ID card in the âdocuments wallet sectionâ of the app.
Until your physical ID card is printed and delivered the e-Emirates ID can be used for various government services. Itâs also valid for telecom services like du and Etisalat.
