Initial reviews of the Top Gun sequel have been overwhelmingly positive, with many calling it ‘one of the finest action pictures of the year.’
On Twitter, Crusie, who reprised his role as Lt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the sequel, sent out a greeting to his followers.
The 59-year-old star tweeted, “36 years after the first film, Top Gun: Maverick is finally here. We made it for the big screen. And we made it for you, the fans. I hope you enjoy the ride this weekend.”
Maverick, starring Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Greg Tarzan Davis, Monica Barbaro, Greg Tarzan Davis and Jay Ellis, was directed by Joseph Kosinski.
Penny Benjamin, Maverick’s new love interest, will be played by Connelly in the action film.
