A naughty parrot stole a GoPro camera from a New Zealand family and shot an incredible “bird’s eye view” of Fiordland National Park. The “kleptomaniac” parrot was able to capture incredible footage and land on a balcony.
The parrot is seen approaching the camera in the footage uploaded by The Guardian on Instagram, then flapping its wings and flying away. The parrot tried to assault the camera after capturing its escape. It was not, however, significantly damaged.
Alexandra Verheul, a hiker from Dunedin, New Zealand, was on the Kepler Track at the time of the parrot’s plunder. “It was a wonderful day when we got to Luxmore Heart, which is on the Kepler Track. So we were just sitting there watching the birds play with everyone’s luggage when my kid decided to place the GoPro on the railing, which he soon snatched,” Verheul said to Seven Sharp.
“He soared straight and true.” We assumed he’d gone since there’s a lot of undergrowth beneath, but then he turned around and pointed to a tree. We were able to see and hear them. They were shouting. They sounded as if they were chatting to one other, which they often do since they are both extremely talkative. And we simply went down there because we heard something. She said, “We could see them hanging out on the tree.”
