Credible sources claim that the results of the postmortem autopsy of murdered journalist Arshad Sharif have been sent to his family and the Kenyan authorities.
The autopsy report from Pakistan stated that Sharif’s corpse showed evidence of abuse.
It has been established that the postmortem report on Sharif has been sent to his mother in Islamabad and shared with Kenyan authorities, including the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA), the Inspector General of Police (IGP-Kenya), and the Director of Public Prosecution in Kenya.
Family members have stated that senior director Ather Waheed of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) met with Riffat Ara Alvi, Arshad Sharif’s mother, in Islamabad and gave her a copy of the autopsy report.
Torture allegations have been denied by both the Kenyan and Pakistani governments.
As reported by Geo News, official sources in Kenya have verified receipt of the post-mortem report.
An FIA source said when asked, “It is Sharif’s mother’s right to know the truth and the journalist’s family have every legal right to have access to it.”
Ather Waheed, of the FIA, visited the family many times to give them updates on the investigation and ultimately hand them the postmortem report.
According to a Kenyan government source, Kenyan authorities have a responsibility to address allegations of torture after receiving a postmortem report from Pakistan.
Separately, FIA Director-General Mohsin Hassan Butt stated that the information gathered by Pakistan thus far pointed to a clear conclusion that Sharif was killed in a well-organized planned assassination in Kenya and that the Kenyan police had failed to produce before two Pakistani investigators one of the shooters, who actively shot at the slain journalist.
