Will Smith’s surprising Oscar moment has gotten a lot of media attention. Colin Jost, the presenter of Saturday Night Live, recently responded to the newest developments in the actor’s issue.
While the Academy just stated that Smith would be barred from performing and attending Oscars ceremonies for the next ten years, Jost questioned if Smith’s sentence is sufficient for his actions.
Jost addressed the topic on the Weekend Update segment on the show’s most recent episode, which aired on April 9th. “The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has barred Will Smith from attending the Oscars for ten years as punishment for hitting Chris Rock,” he joked. Is this, however, a punishment?
“He still has a chance to get nominated.” He may even be nominated for an award. He’s even welcome to attend the after-party. He just does not have to attend the four-hour event, when his wife will undoubtedly be mocked once again,” he continued.
“Honestly, I believe a true punishment would be to have Will Smith host next year’s Oscars,” Jost, who co-hosted the Emmys with Michael Che, said as a punishment for the Men In Black star. Because, believe me, hosting an awards ceremony will make you reconsider your life choices more than anything else.”
