Elon Musk has chastised America’s poor work ethic and praised dedicated Chinese manufacturing employees who labor until 3 a.m., dubbed “burning the 3 am oil.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who once slept on his Fremont factory floor during the production of the company’s Model 3 vehicle, claimed Americans are “trying to avoid coming to work at all” as compared to their Chinese counterparts.
In an interview with the Financial Times, he stated:
‘I believe China will produce some really powerful enterprises.’
‘There are just a lot of really brilliant and dedicated individuals in China who are passionate about manufacturing.’
‘And they won’t simply be working into the wee hours of the morning. The 3 a.m. oil will be burned. As a result, they won’t even leave the plant.
‘In contrast, in America, people attempt to avoid going to work at all costs.’
Workers were given a sleeping bag and mattress, as well as a spot on the factory floor to sleep.
Employees were paid $63 a day in food, but they had to work 12 hours a day, six days a week.
Before the interim limitations were imposed, employees seemed to work eight-hour shifts with four days on and two days off.
