The Huawei Mate 40 was released over two years ago, in October 2020, but that hasn’t prevented Huawei from bringing it back with a new CPU and a new main camera sensor. A new edition of the handset featuring MediaTek’s Density 1000+ CPU was recently posted on the Chinese Tianyi Product Library, replacing the Kirin 9000E 5G SoC of its predecessor.
It’s also worth noting that the phone will be available in China under the name TD Tech M40. While the reason for the rebranding is unknown, rumors claim it has something to do with the company’s prohibition in the United States. As a consequence, the Huawei logo on the smartphone’s rear panel will be changed to “TD Tech.”
TD Tech is one of the firms that have a Huawei hardware license. So far, the business has only released one smartphone, the TD Tech N8 Pro, which is just a repackaged Huawei Nova 8 Pro.
Other features include a 6.5-inch display, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. The TD Tech M40 will be priced at 4,599 Yuan ($724) for the 8/128GB variation and 5,099 Yuan ($802) for the 8/256GB trim.
