The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a new plea in the Islamabad High Court (SHC) on Tuesday, asking for the revocation of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz’s and her husband Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar’s bail in the Avenfield Apartment case.
The petition was filed on the basis of “misuse of bail concessions, abuse of the legal process, obstructing the administration of justice, resorting to inappropriate methods, and harassment of NAB officials.”
The accused have “deliberately and maliciously” abused the bail concession, according to the agency. As a result, it appealed with the court to revoke the PML-N leader’s and her husband’s bail.
Tomorrow, a two-judge panel consisting of Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Kiyani will hear Maryam and Safdar’s appeals against their convictions in the Avenfield Apartment case (Wednesday).
The NAB petition will also be heard tomorrow, according to the IHC registrar.
In the Avenfield Apartment case, Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir sentenced former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar to 10, seven, and one years in prison, respectively.
They have filed appeals against the conviction at the Islamabad High Court (IHC). On September 18, the same year, the high court postponed their sentences and ordered their release on bail.
Last Monday, Maryam Nawaz submitted a new case with the IHC, along with additional facts, asking for the Avenfield judgement to be overturned.
