On March 2, American singer Olivia Rodrigo was named Woman of the Year 2022 at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
With her introspective first album, Rodrigo became the year’s biggest breakthrough performer, smashing chart records.
SOUR, an album on heartbreak, envy, and insecurity, set streaming records and landed all 11 songs in the top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100 list.
“Olivia’s rise to superstardom is the stuff of pop music folklore,” Billboard’s Editorial Director Hannah Karp said in a statement.
Olivia is one of the most honest and intriguing new singers to emerge on the market in years, thanks to her abilities as a storyteller and songwriter.
Gabby Barrett, Phoebe Bridgers, Doja Cat, Karol G, Bonnie Raitt, Saweetie, and Summer Walker were among the other prize winners at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
