ISLAMABAD: Dr. Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer (DHO), verified 18 new COVID-19 strain “Omicron” cases in the federal capital.
The number of Omicron cases in Islamabad has grown from 66 to 84.
The DHO stated samples from afflicted individuals are being transferred to the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
He cautioned about the new COVID-19 strain and the threat of Omicron spreading in Islamabad after the worldwide epidemic.
“Everyone must be vaccinated as soon as possible,” Dr. Zaeem said.
The first case of the novel COVID-19 strain Omicron was reported in Pakistan on December 9 and the first case was found in Islamabad on December 25.
