WASHINGTON – US Vice President Joe Biden says Pakistan, Iran, China, and Russia are negotiating with the Afghan Taliban to reach an agreement on a number of topics.
His remark came just hours after the Taliban unveiled the details of its Afghan provisional government.
After the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan on August 15, Biden predicted that China would try to reach an agreement with the Taliban.
When asked if he was concerned that China would fund the US-sanctioned group, Biden told reporters, “The Taliban is a serious problem for China. So, I’m sure they’ll try to work out some sort of deal with the Taliban. Pakistan, Russia, and Iran are all in the same boat. They’re all pondering what they should do next.”
