Amazon in Pakistan !
ISLAMABAD :Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said on Thursday that Pakistan would be added to e-commerce giant Amazon’s sellers list within the next few days.
Abdul Razak Dawood confirmed that it is a great opportunity for Pakistani youth, SMEs and women entrepreneurs. The adviser said that they have been engaged with Amazon since last year and now itâs happening.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs (SAPM) Shahbaz Gill said Amazon has added Pakistan to its approved sellerâs list.
Crediting the PTI government for the development, Prime Minister Imran Khanâs aide tweeted: âWhat could not be achieved during the last 10 years in the history of Pakistan, has finally been done by the present government.â
Gill thanked Imran khan and said Pakistan has now joined the global market which will result in billions for the country in the form of investment and employment opportunities.
A webinar was also organised by the Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles and Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan with senior executives of a few Pakistani companies.
Omar Gajial, former senior executive of Amazon, shared with the participants what sort of opportunities will be available to Pakistani business to sell their products on Amazon and how they can derive maximum benefit from this opportunity once Amazon opens its Seller Registration for Pakistan.Â
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin, held a meeting with the Minister for Industries and Production, Makhdoom Khusroo Bakhtiyar, at the Finance Division to discuss the features of a new credit scheme for the SME Sector.
SAPM on Finance and Revenue, Dr. Waqar Masood, was also present during the meeting. Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Dr. Reza Baqir, joined the meeting through a video link.
SBP Governor briefed the Finance Minister on the proposal for the provision of funds for the small businesses (without collateral) for tenure up to 3 years through the network of Commercial banks.
The banks would design innovative products to reach out to the smaller businesses, whereas the government will provide the risk-sharing facility to the banks, he added.
The Governor also shared that, at present, around a hundred thousand small businesses are availing the SME credit facilities provided by the Commercial banks. The new scheme will accelerate the credit uptake ratio of the smaller businesses up to 30 percent approximately during three years.

The Finance Minister lauded the scheme and affirmed to provide the seed money for the scheme. The provision of microcredit would create employment opportunities at the local level, and in turn, enhance GDP growth and will help in achieving sustainable and robust economic growth, he concluded.
Initially, a list of 38 exporters have been communicated to Amazon, which is limited to surgical, sports goods and home textiles sectors,â the commerce secretary had said, adding that the list will be expanded to other sectors in near future.
