The Tony Awards have set a “strict no violence policy” to participants ahead of the celebration in response to Will Smith’s dramatic onstage slap at the 2022 Oscars event.
If you’re planning on attending this year’s Tony Awards, be aware that the producers issued a caution in the FAQ part of a letter they sent out to ticketholders.
The letter said, “In the case of an incident, the culprit will be promptly removed from the event.”
Additionally, the letter described the event’s dress code and its Covid-19 policy, which stipulates that all attendees must be fully immunized before attending.
As recently as last month, when Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock lives onstage at the 94th Academy Awards for making an offhand remark about his wife’s shaved head, Hollywood and the world were shocked.
He was still permitted to attend the ceremony despite the unexpected slap, and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in King Richard.
