Who is Cleotha Abston?
Cleotha Abston (Pookle Abston), 38, has been accused of the disappearance of millionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher. Earlier Sunday, police announced accusations against Abston, including aggravated abduction and tampering with evidence.
Cleotha Abston refers to himself as “Wild Child” on his Facebook profile.
Abston’s criminal record includes many significant charges, such as abduction and armed robbery. He was condemned to jail in 2000 for kidnapping a defense counsel at gunpoint. After Abston led him to a petrol station to get money from an ATM machine, the victim was able to flee. Abston has a lengthy criminal record dating back to his adolescence. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and was freed in 2020, according to prison records.
He was also arrested a few months earlier on unrelated theft charges prior to the event. He gets prosecuted for the identical behavior not even a year after the last violation.
Charged With Kidnapping Heiress Eliza Fletcher
Cleotha “Pookie” Abston was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping Eliza Fletcher, who was snatched while out running last Friday. According to investigators, Abston was observed wearing a pair of Champion slides a day before the abduction on security video, and DNA from the shoes was eventually linked to the Victim.
According to the police report, the kidnapping was “violent,” with the suspect “waiting for, then rushing at the victim.” Authorities think Fletcher, 34, was seriously injured and left evidence, such as blood, in the car. Abston could be seen wiping up the evidence on the SUV. The affidavit contains horrifying information, like the fact that suspect Cleotha Abston “refused to give detectives the location of the victim,” and it’s evident that the murder scenes were horrific.
The SUV with the tell-tale broken taillight was parked at the house when police arrived to arrest Cleotha Abston. He even attempted to flee but was apprehended by police.
Investigators discovered Abston at his brother Mario’s house after the kidnapping. Mario told police that he witnessed Cleotha cleaning the inside of the GMC Sierra, washing his clothes, and “acting extremely peculiar.”
Although it seems that Mario Abston was supportive of the police, he was detained as well, although not in connection with the kidnapping but for carrying fentanyl, heroin, and a pistol as a felon.
What is also evident is that the police have a decent notion of what occurred, even though the victim has yet to be discovered. Let’s hope they locate her and bring her home safely soon.
