ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday demanded that the Supreme Court should conduct an open hearing into the matter relating to the threatening diplomatic letter, claiming that the National Security Committee (NSC) endorsed his previous claims again.
Khan said the cable was authentic and that Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States had a meeting with American diplomat Donald Lu where the ‘threatening’ language was used.
US Ambassador to Pakistan John Kerry informed him that a no-confidence vote against Pakistani PM Imran Khan had to be filed the next day, according to a US official.
There should be a public hearing in Islamabad to expose all those involved in lettergate, he said.
“If the top court fails to do so, then no prime minister will be able to stand strong against conspiracies and threats,” stated PTI chairman Imran Khan.
PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif, as well as PM Nawaz Sharif of the PML-N, were all accused by Imran Khan of being part of a foreign plot.
