With the second phase starting tomorrow, all six clubs are still in contention for one of the top four play-off spots. The Sultans, the incumbent champions, are the favorites to qualify for the playoffs, as they sit comfortably atop the points table thanks to their undefeated run in Karachi.
However, after losing all five of their first five matches in Lahore, the 2020 PSL winners – Karachi Kings might still make it back into the competition if their fortunes change.
Islamabad With five matches, three victories, and two losses in the first phase, United and the Qalandars have an almost equal record, but United’s higher run rate puts them in second place, while the Qalandars are in third.
Former champions Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, enjoyed a similar start to the season, winning two of their first five games. Thanks to their surprise win against the Qalandars in the last match of the Karachi leg, the Gladiators finished fourth.
The humiliating loss to the United is still haunting Zalmi, who, although having the same number of points as the Gladiators, is in the fifth position due to a lower net run rate.
It’s worth noting that the second round of the PSL 7 will include a total of 19 matches, with each team still needing to win five games to qualify for the playoffs.
