The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have agreed to allow two additional players in the supplementary category in the tournament’s seventh edition.
Although each franchise is allowed to select one international player, the agreement provides an opportunity for Pakistan’s emerging talent to experience franchise cricket, which will help them develop their skills, the PCB said in a statement.
“Separately, this will provide teams with additional players if they require them for reasons beyond their control,” the PCB stated.
The franchises will select two players via a virtual conference call on January 7, 2022, for the Replacement Player Draft.
Karachi Kings will be the first team to choose their two players, followed by Lahore Qalanders, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultan, and Peshawar Zalmi. The order was determined by a random draw.
The second selection will be made in reverse order, beginning with Zalmi, followed by Sultans, Gladiators, United, Qalandars, and Kings.
The seventh season of the HBL PSL will begin on January 27 and conclude on February 27.
