PSL 7 broadcasting rights to a partnership of ARY and PTV have been challenged by Transparency International Pakistan (TIP).
TIP informed the PCB that it had received a complaint about the ARY-PTV consortium’s PSL broadcasting rights for 2022 and 2023.
The complaint wrote to TIP that giving PSL 2022 and 2023 broadcasting rights to PTV and ARY consortium is a breach of the PPRA 2004 guidelines.
According to the letter, Geo Super offered Rs3.74 billion for two years, while PTV and ARY consortium bid Rs2.1 billion. For two years, the consortium’s proposal should have been Rs4.2 billion, according to the complaint, but PCB authorized an Rs4.35 billion bid for two years.
Transparency International Pakistan asked the PCB why, with 65 years of sports broadcasting expertise, “PTV did not bid alone for PSL broadcasting rights?”
