The Google Pixel 8 Pro has leaked today in CAD-based renders, and it’s keeping the same design language as its predecessor, by the looks of it. It’s quite early for these renders as the phone should only be released in October, but Google might tease it on May 10 during its I/O developer conference, just as it did last year with the Pixel 7 series.
In comparison to the Pixel 7 Pro from a year ago, the Pixel 8 Pro sports more rounded corners and a less boxy overall design. Even though it’s still easy to tell that the camera island belongs to a Pixel, it has changed. This time around, it looks like Google chose to house all three cameras in the same oval ‘opening’ in the metal. There’s also a new sensor underneath the flash, though at the moment it’s unclear what this could be.
The Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7 mm, and it’s around 12 mm thick at the camera bump. The display is said to be around 6.52″, smaller than the Pixel 7 Pro’s, but this adjustment has to do with creating more rounded corners apparently. We can also unsurprisingly see the power and volume buttons on the right, the USB-C port and speaker on the bottom, while the SIM tray is on the left side.
The future Google Tensor G3 SoC, which is reported to be based on the undisclosed Samsung Exynos 2300 and manufactured using Samsung’s 3nm technology, is anticipated to power the phone. Comparing this to the Tensor G2 manufactured on a 5nm process, performance and efficiency may ultimately improve.
Moving towards sooner releases, Google’s Pixel 7a mid-ranger leaked not once, but twice in the past two days, and now a new report from a usually reliable source claims this device will be released in June. Also in June, the Pixel Fold will hit stores, according to the same source.
The Fold will be offered in two color versions: Carbon and Porcelain. Think of them as dark gray or black and white or off-white, respectively. The device will only be available with 256GB of storage. Pricing has so far been said to come at around €1,700.
On the other hand, the Pixel 7a is rumored to be offered with 128GB of storage in Arctic Blue, Carbon, and Cotton hues, with a possible Jade coming too. Think of these as blue (obviously), black/gray, white, and green-ish, respectively. Pricing is expected to be around €500 in the EU. Both the Pixel Fold and the Pixel 7a are allegedly going to be announced at Google’s I/O developer conference.
