On Monday, UAE authorities advised academic calendar for the next three years before the post-lockdown phase. The academic calendar for the year 2020-2021 shows all the details of start of the year, winter break and spring break schedule, and the end of the year.
The Ministerial Development Council chaired by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed, designed the academic calendar for UAE’s government and private schools for the coming three years.
According to the details set for the approved calendar, all the schools will resume education from August 30, 2020.
The private school’s students with foreign curricula will have three-week winter vacations starting from December 13 to December 31. Schools will reopen after the winter breaks on January 3, 2021, and MOE schools will reopen on January 10, 2021.
The spring breaks would be two-week long from March 28, 2021, to April 8, 2021 – regular classes will be starting on April 11, 2021.
The end of the year for the academic calendar 2020-21 would fall on July 1, 2021.
As for the public and private schools following the curriculum from the Ministry of Education, dates were different. The academic year started on April 1, 2020. Summer breaks were scheduled on July 5, 2020 and students were to return to school on August 30, 2020. The winter vacations would be extended to four-weeks, from December 13 to January 7, 2021.
The end of the academic year for the private schools can close any day from March 14th to April 1, 2021 based on the school fulfilling the specified number of instructional and academic days after receiving KHDA approval.
The Ministry of Education website has also published all the scheduled dates on the academic calendar and the academic strategy for the UAE education sector.
