Meet Cassio Dias, the breakout sensation of the Kansas City Outlaws and a rising star in the world of professional bull riding. In this article, we’ll introduce you to this talented young rider and his journey to becoming a PBR superstar.
The Early Days
Cassio Dias, just 21 years old, hails from São Francisco de Sales, Brazil. He’s been riding bulls since the age of 13, following in the footsteps of his rodeo-loving family. Inspired by legends like Lane Frost, Cassio always dreamed of testing his skills against the best bull riders in the world.
“I was born for this,” Cassio says. “My family is all about rodeo: my father, my uncles. I think even when I was in my mom’s belly, I was thinking about riding bulls. I was made for it.”
A Chance Meeting with a Champion
Cassio’s dreams took a leap forward when he met J.W. Hart, the 2008 World Champion rider, at an event in Brazil. Meeting a rider he looked up to was a dream come true for Cassio.
“I respect him a lot as a World Champion and as a coach,” Cassio says. “He’s been inspiring me, not just as a rider but as a person, as a man, as a cowboy. I used to watch him riding, and I’m inspired by the way he rides. It was amazing, knowing him better, and when he invited me, I couldn’t say no.”
Joining the Outlaws
Cassio didn’t just join the Kansas City Outlaws; he moved in with his head coach, J.W. Hart, and his fellow teammates. Living and training together has turned the Outlaws into a close-knit family that keeps each other on track.
“It’s been good because I can learn some English, working every week and talking to J.W. for learning English,” Cassio says. “The best thing is that I ride horses and bulls almost every day, so this is the best way to be prepared. And also, we have workouts every day. I’m a little lazy, but J.W. doesn’t leave me. When he feels I’m a little lazy, he goes and knocks on the door, ‘Let’s go! Let’s go! Work out! Let’s go! Let’s move this body!'”
Success with the Outlaws
Cassio has flourished with the Outlaws, becoming the breakout superstar of the 2023 PBR Camping World Team Series season. He’s gone an impressive 19-for-26 (73%) with five 90-point rides, earning two event MVP titles.
“I’m feeling very blessed,” Cassio says. “I didn’t think I was going to do so great as I’m doing. I’m very happy for that.”
His success isn’t just an individual achievement but a team effort. The Outlaws’ slogan, “no grit, no quit,” reflects their discipline and strong work ethic.
“If they’re not disciplined, we move them,” Hart says. “But it’s no secret: this team is very disciplined, and their work ethic is second to none.”
Looking Ahead
Cassio has set his sights on a world title for next season, but for now, he’s focused on leading the Outlaws to victory at the 2023 PBR Teams Championship. With the support of his team and his incredible season, the future looks bright for this rising PBR star.
“It’s a dream come true because this is where the best riders are,” Cassio says. “I dreamed about grabbing my rope and coming through this hall. And every time I do it, I think, ‘My dream came true, and I’m among the best.'”
Cassio Dias is not just a name in bull riding; he’s a testament to hard work, dedication, and chasing your dreams in the world of professional sports
